Spring 2009 Bible & Technology Class
Michael Meade & David Broome
The purpose of this class is to educate ourselves and our church family about the dangers of technology "Media" (specifically internet media) and the blessings it also can provide if used wisely. This quarter we want to learn from each other ways to prevent the bad from coming into our homes, and ways we can use the good from technology to encourage each other and reach out to the lost through our web site.
Many people don't know how to stop pornographic e-mails or pornographic pop-ups. We may not realize how easy it is to click on innocent search results that turn out to be pornographic and how vulnerable our children are to such a mistake. We plan to learn how to use parental controls on our computers for internet safety. We will include instruction on how to protect our home computers from virus and malware intrusions. How to use search engines more effective and web browsers, media players for audio and video. We may not realize all of the media, and tools that are available to us within our web site, or know how to use the members only section. Also some instruction on how to use the Southern Hills website more effectively and provide feedback/suggestions.
Each week we will post a Power Point to go along with the lesson. If you do not have Power Point, you may download the free Power Point Viewer at this page.
